This exquisitely elegant carved Victorian carnelian intaglio pendant is set in 14k yellow gold. It dates from the late 1800's. The diamond shaped deep coffee colored carnelian is beautifully carved with a an image of a young man with an ivy crown and a harp. The other side is an equally beautifully carved portrait of a couple. The Ivy represents everlasting, love, marriage, eternal faithfulness, friendship and the harp symbolizes heavenly worship. There is a soft translucence that is accentuated when held to the light. It is framed in a diamond shaped roped golden frame. Simple sophistication infused with quiet powerfulness. The pendant measures 3/4" x 3/4". It weighs 7.73 grams.
