Experience the marvel of the Victorian period in this extraordinary enamel and pearl brooch. It is set in 14k yellow gold and silver. This brooch is specifically a piece of mourning jewelry from the 1800's. Mourning jewelry represents a connection to a deceased love one. With its interesting oval like shape and ornate gold frame, it is encrusted with small pearls in the center of a jet black piece of enamel. The back is beautifully engraved. It says In memory of Ann Kemp March 27, 1853 - Anne Kemp May 24th 1865. The back of the pin contain locks of hair which was typical of mourning jewelry symbolism. Intensely enlightening. The pin weighs 29.7 grams. It measures 2 1/4" x 1 3/4".
