This magnificent Victorian lorgnette is made in 14k yellow gold. It dates from the late 1800s. The lorgnette has a pair of folding glasses. The handle, beautifully portrays the fine craftsmanship of the era. It is coated in a cream colored enamel and decorated with gold stars. The ring at the bottom of the handle is beautifully detailed in soft swirls and scrolls. The eye glasses fold in half and are hidden within the gold encasement, opening easily with a simple push of a button located on the side of the handle. At the end of the gold handle is a fairly large gold ring which is perfect for hanging from a chain. It can easily and dramatically be worn as a pendant. The lorgnette weighs 27.70 grams. It measures 5" x 1 5/8" with the glasses closed. The glasses open measure 4" x 1 1/2". The bottom loop measures 3/4". The enamel portion of the handle measures 3/16". The lenses works as perfect strong magnifiers. A striking and opulent piece.
